The Maasai people are among East Africa's most iconic pastoral communities deeply proud of their traditions, beliefs, and relationship with the land. Their influence stretches across Kenya, reflected in place names, landscapes, and centuries of seasonal movement.

This journey explores the heart of Maasai land, from the tranquil shores of Lake Elementaita, the dramatic legend of the Sleeping Warrior, to the vast, wildlife-rich plains of the Maasai Mara a name derived from the Maa language meaning "spotted," inspired by the scattered acacia trees across the savannah.

Expect abundant wildlife, powerful cultural encounters, and classic safari landscapes a true photographer's haven.

Safari Itinerary

DAY 1 – Arrival in Nairobi

Transfer Time: Jomo Kenyatta International Airport → Hotel | ±30 minutes

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, complete immigration and customs formalities. Exit the terminal where your professional safari guide will warmly welcome you.

Transfer to your hotel for leisure and overnight rest.

Overnight: Eka Hotel, Nairobi

Meals: Bed & Breakfast

DAY 2 – Nairobi → Lake Naivasha → Lake Elementaita

Drive Time: ±3 hours | Distance: 150 km

After breakfast, depart Nairobi and travel into the Great Rift Valley.

En route, stop at Lake Naivasha for a scenic boat safari, where you may spot:

African fish eagles
Hippos resting in the water
Pelicans and other water birds

Continue onward to Lake Elementaita, arriving in time for lunch and leisure. The lake, though the smallest in the Rift Valley at just 25 km², hosts rich birdlife and offers beautiful sunset views with the legendary Sleeping Warrior Hill as a backdrop.

Overnight: Sentrim Elementaita Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

DAY 3 – Lake Elementaita → Maasai Mara Game Reserve

Drive Time: ±5.5 hours | Distance: 255 km

After breakfast, depart for the world-famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Travel through dry plains, wheat plantations, and Maasai settlements.

Stop in Narok Town, the cultural hub of the Maasai people, before continuing on a scenic but rugged road into the reserve.

Arrive at your camp in time for lunch and a short rest. Later, enjoy an evening game drive in search of the Big Five across the open savannah.

Overnight: Mara Base Camp

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Camp Highlight: Riverside eco-camp with excellent access to wildlife corridors.

DAY 4 – Maasai Mara: Wildlife & Culture

Activities: Morning game drive • Walking safari • Maasai village visit

Begin the day with an early morning game drive when predators are most active. Expect sightings of:

Lions and cheetahs
Elephants and buffalo
Giraffes, zebras, and antelopes

Return to camp for lunch and leisure. In the afternoon:

Enjoy a guided walking safari, experiencing the savannah on foot
Visit a Maasai village, gaining insight into traditional homes, customs, and daily life

Overnight: Mara Base Camp
